More about Personal Programmes
Speech Training for Adults
-
A programme will be designed to meet your personal needs which we
identify together in your free*, no-obligation, assessment
consultation. Probably starting with how you breathe, produce
and project your voice, we shall develop your skills and your
confidence for effective communication for work, social situations or
that special occasion we agreed as our target. You might
do this for fun or even seek nationally validated accreditation through an externally
assessed examination.
-
The benefits
- * FREE in Swindon and by telephone or Skype but a
contribution towards travel cost may be necessary where significant
distance is invovled.
Awards for Speaking and Performing
Skills
-
A range of programmes leading to the award of internationally
renowned LAMDA certificates, medallions and diplomas
is available. The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art offers
qualifications - now with Government accreditation too - in such areas
as: The Speaking of Verse & Prose; Spoken English; Reading for
Performance; Acting; Mime; Improvisation; Public Speaking and Devised
Performance by individuals and some by groups. These have NVQ equivalence since September 2002 so can
be valuable additions to CVs. If, for example, you successfully
gain a medal, it brings with it NVQ Level 3 equivalence! UCAS
points are awarded for achievements in higher grades in 2008!
- The Poetry Vanguard and
New Era Academy also offer graded awards for performance skills and we can prepare you for these or for similar
exams set by other bodies. Our success rates at all levels are
excellent.

Moderate Your Accent?
-
We frequently assist people with programmes to improve the
clarity and universality of their spoken English. Already we
have helped adults for whom English is not their first language to
sound much more like natives speakers. These have included people from
France, Nigeria, Finland, Burma, Colombia, Korea, Germany, Spain, Japan,
India, China, Poland, Pakistan, The Netherlands, The Ukraine, Italy, Russia - to name a few. Sometimes
English regional accents can affect peoples' images and careers and we
frequently help people to soften or get rid of it or else acquire a second accent, RP. Received Pronunciation
is still the "power-speak" of many
professions and it is the unaccented, universally understood English
that used to be called "BBC English" or "The Queen's
English." Having more than one style can make you a much
more versatile communicator; it does not necessarily mean abandoning
your local dialect. It would be a dull world if everyone sounded
the same, but if you could only ever paint pictures in one
colour, how limited and dull would that be? ...Our
tried-and-tested system really works! Achieving a softened
accent or embedding R.P. clearly is about changing habits of years so
it does take time, lots of practice and strong motivation! That
said, there is a strong likelihood that you can transform your image
and boost your confidence by undertaking this programme. Please
give us a call and find out more. It costs nothing to ask and it
could make a huge difference to your social and/or business life.
